Autumn is a transitioning period of change, as we begin to fall back in time and bundle up as the weather outside get cool, and the trees dress up in festive colors before becoming bare branches. This time of the year is my absolute favorite as nature begins to remind us of all the beauty and blessings surrounding us. However, after moving to the south, where the weather doesn’t change very much and you don’t see nature preparing for fall, I like to bring the harvest season into my home. When I think of fall, I think of warm blankets, cozy indoor decor, rich color pallets, and of course, food! And this all begins with a warm beverage. Today I’ll be sharing my Masala Chai that is perfect to enjoy during this season. Lets begin…

Ingredients:

2 Black Tea teabags or 1 ½ teaspoon of loose black tea grounds
1 1/3 cups of water
1-teaspoon sugar (optional)
1 clove
2 cardamom pods (crushed)
1 small piece of cinnamon stick
Small pinch of fennel seeds
½ inch piece of fresh ginger
½ cup milk of choice (can add more of less depending on how strong you want the tea to be)
Small pinch of turmeric powder
Yield :1 cup (8oz)

Method:
1. In a saucepan bring water to a simmer.
Once simmering, add all the ingredients except milk and turmeric.
2. Cook until the color is a rich brown
(about 5-6 minutes) on high medium heat.
3. Add milk and bring it to a boil. Boil for 2-3 minutes,
making sure it does not spill.
You may need to remove it from the heat and
bring it back to the burner to prevent any spills.
4. Add turmeric just before drinking
5. Grab a cozy blanket and enjoy!
I hope you give this masala tea a try, All the best!
